Letters to a Young Poet
A reading circle for the care of the inner life
Once a month, we come together to read and explore one of the letters from Rainer Maria Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet.
Each letter is an invitation to reflect on the themes that run through human experience, and to discover how Rilke's words can speak to our own lives. Through his deeply poetic writing, we'll explore questions related to mental health — not through diagnosis or psychological explanation, but through the language of the soul, of sensitivity and imagination.
Poetry has the ability to reach places that rational thought often cannot touch. It helps us widen our view of ourselves, awakening memories, inspirations and new ways of understanding our feelings, relationships and choices.
Each letter brings a central theme to be explored with care. In every meeting, the group's sharing broadens the possibilities of understanding, revealing different perspectives on the same subject. After all, each person reads the text through the lens of their own history, and it is precisely in this diversity of perspectives that the dialogue becomes so rich.
More than appreciating the brilliance of Rilke's writing, this will be a space to talk about the insecurities, fears, anxieties, desires and hopes that are part of all our experiences — and that remain as relevant today as when the letters were first written.
At the end of each meeting, we'll carry with us new questions, reflections and small contemplative practices — meditations, writing exercises or invitations to observe everyday life — to help integrate the themes explored, so they continue to resonate beyond the reading itself.
Important
This is not a group therapy, but an open reading circle — a safe space to explore, through poetry, the themes that run through each person's inner life.

"There is only one way. Go into yourself... Your innermost happenings are worth all your love."
